Sparks fly when 16 unsuspecting women arrive in Nebraska territory and discover they’ve been advertised as mail order brides.
Sixteen Civil War widows living in St. Louis respond to a series of meetings conducted by a land speculator who lures them west with a promise of “prime homesteads” in the “booming community” of Plum Grove, Nebraska. Sparks fly when the unsuspecting women disembark from the train in view of a group of men waiting expectantly for their “mail order brides.” Caroline Jamison, Sally Grant, Ella Barton, Hettie Gates, and Ruth Dow have other ideas and decide to make their own way, joining forces to homestead together. These five women are going to need all the courage and faith they can muster—especially when they begin to discover that none of them is exactly who she appears to be.
